Eagle Island State Park

Eagle Island State Park is a day-use park located west of Boise. Its features include a swimming beach, grassy picnic areas, and miles of trails for horseback riding or hiking. The park also has a waterslide and disc golf course.

Disc Golf

The 545-acre day-use park west of Boise features a popular swimming beach, a grassy picnic area, a waterslide, and more than five miles of horseback riding and hiking trails. The park also has a disc golf course.

Disc golf has gained momentum nationwide, and many state parks have embraced it. In fact, Idaho’s Farragut, Lake Walcott, and Massacre Rocks state parks have courses that bring in extra revenue for the parks.

Moreover, the games create a sense of community and encourage people to interact with each other. Emporia, Kansas is a great example of how disc golf has helped to boost the economy. During major tournaments, the city gets a lot of visitors who spend money at local shops and hotels. Moreover, they also dine at local restaurants and eateries.

Zip Lines

Eagle Island State Park offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation. Its 545 acres are the perfect place for families to go hiking, biking, horseback riding, swimming or just relax in the shade under a tree.

Eagle Island also has a huge picnic area that’s perfect for family barbecues and group activities. They even have a Hawaiian shaved ice stand that my kids would beg all summer to go to.

For adventure seekers, there is a brand new zip line course that’s being built at the park by EBL Zip Lines. It has six zip lines and the state’s first quick jump – a parachute-simulated leap off of a 60-foot tower. The adventure tour is expected to open before Christmas this year. During winters the park transforms into Gateway Snow Park and boasts multiple tubing hills.

Water Slide

This family-friendly park is the perfect place to spend a day outside. The 545-acre park features a swimming beach, a picnic area, and over five miles of hiking trails. They also have a waterslide that opens on Memorial Day and a disc golf course.

The state park charges a small entrance fee or Idaho residents can buy a pass for $10 at the DMV. There is a lot to do at this beautiful state park including walking/hiking trails, a lake that you can fish and boat in (non-motorized), disc golf, horseshoe pits, volleyball courts, swimming, a water slide, and zip lining.

Hiking Trails

Eagle Island State Park is a hidden gem located just a short drive from Downtown Boise. Featuring a variety of landscapes, scenic drives, and wetlands, this beautiful park offers visitors and residents the opportunity to explore nature and enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities.

For those looking for a bit more adventure, Eagle Island State Park offers a variety of hiking trails. Trails range in length and difficulty and offer stunning views of the surrounding foothills.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced hiker, there’s a trail for everyone at Eagle Island State Park. Start your trek at the equestrian parking lot and head south to the old slaughterhouse, warden’s house, Boise River (South Channel), or the park entrance kiosk. Then head north to the Falcon Picnic Shelter or Harrier Picnic Shelter before returning to your starting point.

Dog Park

A public meeting will take place Thursday to gather input on a pilot program that would allow dogs off leash in 212 acres of Eagle Island State Park. Currently, dogs must be on-leash in the park’s core area including the water slide, campgrounds, and disc golf course.

Dogs are still banned from the beach and swimming areas due to concerns about water quality, which is sampled daily by Snake River Waterkeeper. Fishing is permitted at the Boise River, Harton Davis Canal, and Eagle Island Park Pond with a valid Idaho fishing license.
